Houston Airports has a five-year capital improvement program (CIP), approved by the City of Houston City Council, which calls for $2.05 billion of spending through fiscal year 2022. The capital improvements are concentrated in terminal and airfield projects with the majority dedicated to George Bush Intercontinental Airport. An updated CIP is approved annually by the Houston City Council as part of each new fiscal year. This CIP was approved on June 28, 2017 by City Council.
